Homeschoolers are people who take parenting very seriously and feel it is their responsibility to fulfill their children’s needs. The learning process which begins at birth simply continues naturally with the parents as teachers. By being allowed to learn at their own pace, with a minimum of stress, homeschooled children have the time and space to to explore the world, internalize and use what they learn. The aim of Waldorf schooling is to educate the whole child, "head, heart and hands". Waldorf Education has its roots in the spiritual-scientific research of the Austrian scientist and thinker Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925). According to Steiner's philosophy, man is a threefold being of spirit, soul, and body whose capacities unfold in three developmental stages on the path to adulthood: early childhood, middle childhood, and adolescence. The stated goals of the schooling method is: "to produce individuals who are able, in and of themselves, to impart meaning to their lives". BACK TO TOP | |
