With so many food choices, parents often are confused on how to shop, how to process and combine foods, and how to get the child to eat it. Children happen to be very sensitive to the effects of one-sided diets, sugar, fried foods, and overall processed foods. We wonder on how the dramatic increase in chronic illnesses such as, allergies, asthma, juvenile diabetes, digestive disorders are linked to food. We know that nutritional deficiencies can
strongly impact the child in terms of development and behavior. What does it mean to eat right? There are so many schools of thought. Our wonderful personal chefs and nutritionists offer practical advice and simple ways to change your cooking and eating habits, while involving your children in the mystery of growing and preparing food. They'll love it. BACK TO TOP | ARTICLES REFERRALS WORKSHOPS
| ARTICLES REFERRALS WORKSHOPS | Cultured Foods "Raw cultured vegetables have been around for thousands of years, but we have never needed them more than we do today. Rich in lactobacilli and enzymes, alkaline-forming, and loaded with vitamins, they are an ideal food that can and should be consumed with every meal. So what exactly are raw cultured vegetables? They're sauerkraut. The Austrians coined this word, from sauer (sour) and kraut (greens or plants). But we call them raw cultured vegetables, because we don't want you to mistake them for the salted and pasteurized sauerkraut sold in supermarkets and even some health food stores. That kind of sauerkraut is definitely not on the Diet, because it is pasteurized. The pasteurization (heating) process destroys precious enzymes, and the added salt eliminates any health benefits. Our chefs teach you how to make these delicious raw cultured vegetables without heat or preservatives. BACK TO TOP | |
| Feng Shui
Feng Shui (pronounced "phung schway" and meaning literally "wind
water") is part of an ancient Chinese philosophy of nature. Feng shui is
often identified as a form of geomancy, divination by geographic features,
but it is mainly concerned with understanding the relationships between
nature and ourselves so that we might live in harmony within our
environment. Practitioners use an understanding of the five elements and the two energies such as chi and sha (hard energy, the opposite of chi) energies and aim to give these "good" and "bad" energies direction for their optimal flow. BACK TO TOP | ARTICLES REFERRALS WORKSHOPS
| ARTICLES REFERRALS WORKSHOPS | Food Safety
Food safety is a matter of intense public concern, and for good reason. Millions of annual cases of food "poisonings" raise alarm not only about the food served in restaurants and fast-food outlets but also about foods bought in supermarkets. The introduction of genetically modified foods--immediately dubbed "Frankenfoods"--only adds to the general sense of unease. We are very concerned about how the food industry is fundamentally linked to our well-being and the future well-being of our kids. Collaborating with the Center for Food and Justice we support a variety of community food systems that offer healthy and safe alternatives to the conscious consumer. BACK TO TOP

| ARTICLES REFERRALS WORKSHOPS | Nutrition Counseling
We believe that the leading nutritional problem in the US today is that many of us eat too many "empty calorie foods". It is not that we do not eat enough food, but instead, we don't eat enough of the right kinds of foods. It is the consumption of inappropriate foods that lead to nutritional deficiencies in the body. Nutritional counseling offers a health analysis and personalized recommendations to change family eating habits, nutrition, and stress reduction. BACK TO TOP
